Re-Igniting the Writing Passion

I truly feel  bad that I don't do more with this site. It has become difficult to keep up with my job and all of its new responsibilities. I also read and review books. So sometimes between those two things and taking care of my mother who lives with us, my writing gets shoved aside. I worked hard this year to get my students to join me in NaNoWriMo.  They so inspired me that when we had a three day weekend I told my family I was doing no school work I was writing. I did just that for three days. We are sixteen days into NaNoWriMo and at the end of those three days I was over 42,000 words. I isolated myself away from all noise and distraction and wrote.  I didn't check email, or visit family and friends on Facebook. I simply sat and wrote.  Today I opened my email and found a post by David Villalva of the Lucid Storyteller. It is a great article about fear.  However, when I went to his site I found several other things that were a big help. He has an infographic on three ways to create a villain. What is so beneficial about this is he uses stories we are all familiar with to demonstrate this. He has allowed us to use it on our site. So here it is for you. You really need to check out his site because he has some great resources.

Student Poetry – Gabrielle H.

 Storm Has Awakened

The roaring sound of thunder.
The bright light of lightning.
Sounds of rain hitting the ground.
The storm has awakened.

Trees going side to side by strong winds.
I’m so scared I’m shivering.
Thunder so loud the windows vibrate.
Storm so intense the power went out.

Raining so loud sounds like a bunch
Of rocks hitting the ground.
Clouds are gray. Lightning coming down.
The storm has awakened

Spring

The bright sun hitting my face
I hear birds chirping in every place.
Flowers pink, blue, yellow and orange.
Spring is here, time to explore.

The sun so bright it’s lighting the whole house.
The fresh smell
Of fresh mowed grass.
Spring makes me feel happy.

Bees are buzzing from flower to flower.
A fresh breeze hitting my face.
Spring makes me feel great.

Spring is my favorite.

Student Poetry A Mixture

Space by Ammishaddai

It is a big place out there isn't it?
With signs of life, aliens.
ETs, UFOs, Glass raining planets.
Isn't it just wonderful out there?

With only 1 percent of the explorable
Universe found. Hoping there will be more
than us. But with Area 51 there may be
More than what meets the eye.

Who knows our government might
just be lying. There may be some
bad things that happens to the world.
Or is the government just aliens?

Books by Traywarren

I also like books
They unleash crazy secrets,
wrap you up
and make you lose track of time

They are addicting and hard to put down
They explain the impossible
Right when you think you're at the end
there's a cliff hanger

They are better than anything
they inspire others
They put you in the story and make you daydream.

Music by Traywarren

I love music
It says the things I like to hear.
It explains complex personal situations
I feel like the things happen to me.

Some music is up beat!
It makes me dance out the room
and throw my hands up in joy
then shout out the lyrics

Some music is too up beat
it gives me migraines
and makes me dizzy
I wish that I would've skipped the song.

Sight by Mallory

People tell me the sky is blue
people tell me the grass is green
People ask me what it's like to be blind
I tell them it's just like seeing without sight.

School is very hard for me
the teacher always gets me help
But, I get along easy
sometimes I fell like on one understands me.

Seeing is overrated I say
some people are in front of me making faces.
I can't see them but I feel them
moving in front of me!

Timeless by Teresita

Timeless,
Staring, standing.
In complete blackness.
thinking of nothing.

Timeless,
Nothing to worry.
Nothing to do.
Nothing to chase.

Timeless.
Minutes.
Hours go by.
All in just one second.

The Man in the Mountains by Caleb

A man in the mountains
survives on his own
very lonely and feels like he's missing something
figures it out.

A woman at the bottom of the mountain
sees the lonely man
feels very bad for him
walks over to him.

The man smiles
The woman smiles
He told her he figured it out.
They lived together forever.

Beasts of the Jungle by Caleb

The beast of the jungle
giant mane on his head
work together to kill prey
very dangerous together

Solitary animal
orange and black stripes
silent kills
watch out while you're in the jungle

Beast on beast
who would win
tiger or lion
very good battle.

A Brutal Fight by Caleb

The crocodile, a savage beast
Eating things whole
Hiding in the shadows
Not something to mess with.

The burmese python
constricting even the biggest prey
In the treetops of the Amazon
Ready to pounce

Even though they don't live near each other
This would be a brutal fight
Who would win
Who would lose?

Student Poems by Natalie

Dreams

I had a dream
A dream of dragons
Breathing Fire
Flying in the air

A dream of dogs
Barking and howling
At the moon
Above in the night sky

I had a dream
A dream of
My family and I
Living happily ever after

Reading

Reading takes you away
to a whole other world
a world of mystery
and detectives

A world of
princesses in castles
and dragons in
spooky caves

A world of
wonder and imagination
floating in the air
waiting for you

Shadows

Shadows are everywhere
hiding in cracks, allies,
and under your bed
just waiting.

Shadows are everything
people in the sunlight, dogs in the summer
and cats in the allies

Shadows are scary
waiting for a sudden move,
waiting to take you,
waiting for you to get up at night

Nature

Nature awaits you
to go outside
in the sun and
have a wonderful time

Nature awaits you
to go on an
adventure with
imagination and fun

Nature awaits you
to go outside
with your family
and have family time

Student Poetry by Kriya

mom, I love you, you gave birth to me,
tried to keep me safe from the world,
loved me even when I was being bad.

You always were there for me,
knowing me more than myself.
Always defended me from all evil,
you worked hard for me.

Provided shelter for me,
stayed awake so that I could learn.
You have very big dreams for me,
and even when you are mad, I know you care.

The Beach

The beach is very relaxing,
gets all the stress off me.
forget about the rest of the world,
as I watch the sun go.

The sand all on my legs and feet,
halfway in the water.
Sound of birds chirping around,
as kids laugh and play carelessly.

The tips of my hair wet,
but I am lost in my own thoughts.
I return back as my sister splashes water on me,
we have a water fight, ending with us soaked in water.

Friends

My friends, that never betray,
always wish the best for me
Whenever I am down, They pull me up,
made me feel like the most important person in the world.

They always help me with anything,
sometimes sacrificing their happiness for me.
I do the same in return, we all are friendly.
They never laugh at my mistakes.

Never hurt my feelings on purpose,
always included me in their group.
We always have a laugh together,
we rude life together, we die together.

Life is like a roller coaster

Life is like a roller coaster
it goes up and down
Just like when you are in a problem
A roller coaster is full of excitement.

Life has many twists and turns,
as do roller coasters,
which makes life exciting and different from others.
A roller coaster lets you have a breath of freedom.

When a roller coaster does down a height,
it feels like you are alive and can do anything.
As you go up a hill on a coaster,
it feels as if you conquered the world.

Student Poetry by Madison B,

My Cello

My cello's sound is beautiful
Sonorous and deep
It feels like it was made to lull me to sleep

As I pull my bow
Across the shining strings,
I'm pulled into the music's flow
And spread musical wings

My life is a blur
But sound pulls through
like a cat's silky purr
Or the clink of shiny shoes.

My Cat Shadow

He moves through the dark
like a shadow
He was named after
that gauzy black reflection

It matches the shade of his fur
Black as shade
He's really sweet
Not shadowy at all

He isn't just a cat
or a pet
He's my brother
He's my friend.

Disappointments

All of life's
tiny,
small
minuscule disappointments

They seem to
tend to
build up
build up

You have to
let it out
sometimes.
It's okay

Magical Meadow

Little little
Leap and twirl
Little, Little
Fairy girl

Little, little
Dance amongst the flower
Little, little
For hours and hours

Little, little
I have a habit
Little, little
Of hopping like a rabbit.

Little, little
Magical meadow
Little, little
Peace and love

Friends

We're friends
She's my first friend
Best friends
Not worst friends

Cool friends
Cold friends
Kid friends
Not old friends.

Together we cope
No matter what the weather
We won't go separate ways I hope
We'll be friends forever.

Student Poetry by Tyniece

Life by Tyniece

Life is like a camera
you have to focus
on what's important
and capture the good things.

Because, if you wait too long
the perfect picture can slip away.
You have to wait and be patient
because good things develop from the bad

And if the picture tears
you piece it back together
And, all the pictures together
create your life!

Friends

A friend is a flower
a rose to be exact
or maybe like a drawbridge
that never comes unlatched

A friend is like a chair
that will forever hold you up
or maybe like an owl
wise and beautiful

A friend is always there
whenever you need them
Oh, where would we be
if we didn't have a friend?

Happiness

Happiness is a cup of tea
we spend time just you and me
We sit and watch the clear blue sky
Hot air balloons passing by

Happiness is when you're on could 9
you're so glad you could reach the sky
You wait and wait
for this is happiness it's just like love.

There are many words
to describe this feeling
But I like to call it
Happiness.

Love

Love
The kind that makes you smile wide
makes you swell up with joy and pride
the kind of love that we should all idolize

The kind that makes you smile wide
it makes you glad and never want to feel sad.
The kind of love that we should all idolize
the love to hold someone in your arms.

It makes you glad and never want to feel sad
makes you swell up with joy and pride
the love to hold someone in your arms
Love

Beautiful Day

Beautiful Day
There's not a cloud today
Just a sky of blue
as the sun shines bright

There's not a cloud today
As you walk down the street
As the sun shines bright
it feels so new

As you walk down the street
Just a sky of blue
It feels so new
A Beautiful Day
